DANIEL NINE (5 PARTS): At the beginning of this chapter, we find Daniel studying the scriptures, specifically Jeremiah the prophet. At this point, Daniel is around 80 years old and has been a captive for most of his life. He discovers that the 70 years of the Babylonian captivity is almost over. Knowing the importance of prayer and fasting, Daniel earnestly seeks the Lord, confessing his sins and the sins of his people. During Daniel’s prayer, the angel Gabriel visits him to give insight and understanding concerning the previous vision that Daniel did not understand. The explanation reveals the 70-week time prophecy that begins with a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem. It is a message filled with hope and encouragement for Daniel and his people. Even so, it ends in the future destruction of both his city and the sanctuary. In this Bible study, the 70 weeks of Daniel 9 will be explained, and we’ll uncover more details about how the two visions (Mareh and Chazown) of Daniel chapter 8 are related. This study contains one of the most encouraging prophecies in all the Bible.
